Jim Moseley brought us monthly news for decades via a mailed-the-old-fashioned-ways after one sent a “love donation”.
Current news and highlighted dramas in Ufology were chronicled with something of a forum for dueling perspectives and claims offered to the characters in the years prior to 2012, the year of Jim’s death to cancer.
UFOtwitter began to take shape with the news teases from Tom DeLonge, concerning upcoming developments expected during late 2017. DeLonge had already become famous in ufological circles following Julian Assange’s final disruptive WikiLeaks release related to exposing Hillary Clinton as some sort of corrupt figure. The last batch of emails Assange released were from John Podesta and were noted by Assange on twitter as revealing an “entertaining” look into how Hillary was pandering the UFO community for votes.
The John Podesta emails revealed he was involved in networking with a famous musician named Tom DeLonge and high ranking military officials over the UFO subject.
It would later be asserted by some that apparently there were ambitious plans by Hillary Clinton to effect UFO disclosure by exposing waived, unacknowledged special access programs.
But, she lost and a different path had been taken that by the summer of 2023 saw the beginning realization of that goal.
Unknown at the time was the fact that Senate leader Harry Reid and some of his peers had become concerned that they were hearing from military personnel that their increasing experiences of puzzling UFO encounters, both in war zones and during training missions, were not being addressed by the officials above them. So, Reid and other Senators quietly funded an internal DOD group that was formed to examine incidents that seemed to involve an intrusive player exhibiting very advanced technology.
What is now known as #ufotwitter began to take shape in the months preceding October 2017, which is when Tom DeLonge held an event to introduce a company with retired participants from the intelligence and Tom on a daily basis was teasing that something big was coming.
It finally did on December 16 2017 when the New York Times published the story about the Pentagon UFO program started by Reid and urther sharing Navy pilot videos of a 40 foot long tic tac craft encountered in 2004 off the west coast and a “gimbal” craft filmed in 2015 off the east coast. A “go fast” video was released soon after.
There will be some summary recapping of ufotwitter happenings and issues between them and now. (That will likely be done in an un-Moseley like way. IOW, avoiding denigrating and freeze framing characters active on ufotwitter. When there are super charged conflicts between non-public figures with extreme characterizations exchanged, I will not use names but pseudonyms. Which many use anyway.)
Recaps and current events will mix in each entry until caught up on recaps.
Some of the personal conflicts are now long-established with camp-followers engaged frequently in attacking each other. The really acute ones among non public people will be noted and only briefly described. Emphasis instead will be on the issue debates.
A key current issue involves the testimony of David Grusch before a subcommittee hearing by the House Oversight Committee on July 26 2023. We will note that in the next entry.
August 2 2023
What is both a current and past key issue among Ufologists and avid consumers of the information associated with the UFO subject is the regard given to Government “insiders” who come out and reveal “information”. I place information in quotes because there are a significant number of Ufologists who simply distrust any such revelations and those imparting them.
Today a contingent of Ufologists, some old guard, some newcomers, assert that such insiders are manipulating public perceptions of the subject by feeding disinformation. They point especially to the history of what is known as the Bennewitz Affair, which played out in the 1980s with Air Force agents from Kirtland AFB in New Mexico feeding disinformation with dark and negative themes to a nearby physicist (Paul Bennewitz) who was openly talking about “alien” signal transmissions at the base.
With the birth of #ufotwitter in late December 2017 with the NY Times article on a Pentagon UFO study program, Lue Elizondo (former head of said program) faced alot of suspicion amidst what was also a flood of appreciation going his way. Today, a more recent military/intelligence community insider named David Grusch is experiencing intensly the same mixed reaction conditions.
Critics of such characters often raise questions that are suggesting corrupt motives that drive this group of people with a history of either government ties and/or employment. They wonder if they are attempting to profit from the UFO subject by gaining government contracts from their new civilian-based positions.
People who persist daily in striking these types of critical notes on twitter:
Jason Colavito; Steven Greenstreet; Jack Brewer; Michael Huntington; John Greenewald, and quite a few others in backup support.
A key point frequently made by some in this group is that “UFO activists” have conned Congress and the press in establishing the UFO subject as a serious object of their attention.
There is a vibrant but definitely not monolithic group of “UFO activists”, active on ufotwitter. Since the “beginning” almost 6 years ago, ordinary people working outside the UFO field with “ordinary” jobs engaged in gathering news and some were organizing phone campaigns targeting Congress for blogs, podcasts, and YouTube shows.
I’ll mention some names now, and over time mention more people and their valuable contributions:
Ross Coulhart; George Knapp; Bryce Zabel; Joe Murgia; Dan Warren; Danny Silva; Christopher Sharp; Adam Goldsack; Ryan Robbins; Lynda Thompson; Jay Christopher King; Christopher Wolford……there are so many more to note!
In the next entry I will attempt a generalized history of the ups and downs spanning the now five and half years of ufotwitter.
August 3 2023
In general UFO Twitter has been an educational service. Many young people like Witness Citizen above have provided that. For example, an esteemed journalist, Ross Coulhart, the other day retweeted this production by Red Panda Koala, showing the history that established an atmosphere of ridicule and denial around the UFO subject:
There will be many such examples from others noted in this journal going forth.
Threaded throughout all ufotwitter activities has been the display of restive emotions and personal and group conflicts. There has also been great friendships formed and maintained, with many people also meeting in person at venues for ufo-subject gatherings.
The overall activity and dynamics playing out on ufotwitter likely provides observing non human intelligences and our human government intelligence services great info and insight into how realization of a NHI presence would impact us all.
But, at this particular moment, there appears to be a disconnect between the psychology of ufotwitter and that of the general public and even most of the press. Despite very big revelations recently of special access programs having recovered alien craft and bodies, everyone not already interested in the subject seem determined to ignore the subject.
Partisan political activity is very much at a minimum on UFOtwitter though something of a political/cultural conflict appears to be playing out with camps of followers around 2 twitter users with pseudonyms, Tupacabra2 and King Milkfart. (Their real names are known but will never be mentioned here.). Aside from that, ufotwitter seems to be following the bipartisan dynamic on this subject being demonstrated in Congress. People on ufotwitter who are engaged in the above mentioned ufotwitter war appear to be hashing out their issues via the twitter audio-conference spaces that twitter users can now host, and attend to listen and speak.
Insofar as the voices of politicians, UFOJoe (Joe Murgia) this morning reminded us of the wonderful service of collecting comments, many stunning, from members of Congress:
Now, the above tweet by Joe seems to be based on him transcribing a recent interview which the interviewer felt robbed him of clicks, so Murgia (who was mistakenly accused of cut and pasting while he was actually listening and transcribing) clearly is sensitive to that concern expressed. There are frequent misunderstandings like this.
Here is a link to compilations of related developments on the UFO activity and disclosure front over the past few years, illustrating the basic concerns and foci of ufotwitter:
Here is a retweeting by a Congressman (D-FL) who mentioned UFOTwitter during the July 26 2023 Congressional hearing (click on to see full picture and comments):
So, throughout the whole of ufotwitter’s history there have been daily scenes of conflict and distress mixed in with great work in educating each other on a very large platform with billions as an audience. Also, in addition to an educational function, there has been a focus on organizing phone campaigns to encourage Congressional attention.
Further entries going forth will emphasize profiles of specific efforts on both fronts. The dramas will only briefly noted…..largely just to show the issues we have to address in order to enter a post disclosure world as adults.
